A graduation requirement is an academic or administrative condition that students must meet in order to successfully complete their program of study.

Schools can define different types of graduation requirements. For example, there may be one set of requirements for standard programs and another for honors students.

Each graduation requirement counts every course that its course requirement matches, so one course can count in full toward two requirements, such as a course that meets both a Social Studies requirement and an Indigenous Studies requirement. A requirement never counts the same course twice. A graduation plan can also use credit links, which let credit beyond what one requirement needs count toward another requirement that is still short, for example extra Math credit counting toward Electives. When a credit link joins two requirements, a course that both of them match counts toward the requirement that gives the extra credit and reaches the other only as extra credit. Because a shared course counts in every requirement it meets, adding up the requirement rows can count it more than once; a Total Credits requirement that matches any course counts each course once and gives the student's overall total. For the full rule, see Graduation Requirement Credit Counting.

Note: To set up graduation requirements in the system, see Creating Graduation Requirement and use the Prerequisite Criterion.

Note: To review student graduation requirements, you review these DAT Queries:

Note: Graduation Requirements are also supported on certain transcripts. When you request one of these transcripts, Totals Line sets what the graduation requirements footer prints: the sum of the requirement rows, or one requirement such as Total Credits. See Transcript Totals Line. For assistance with transcript configuration, contact support@pcreducator.com.
