Finance - Reports - Statement of Activities Comparison
Posted August 18, 2026
The Statement of Activities Comparison (Income Statement) report is reached through Finance - Reports. You need FinanceGL Full or FinanceGL Read roles to access this report. This report compares account amounts for two date ranges side by side and shows the difference between them.
| Parameter |
Description |
| Period 1 Start Date |
The first day of the first date range. |
| Period 1 End Date |
The last day of the first date range. |
| Period 2 Start Date |

| Include Accounts without Activity |
When checked, every account in the chart layout appears on the report. When unchecked, accounts whose Period 1 Amount and Period 2 Amount are both zero are left off the report, including accounts with transactions that net to zero. |
Note: Year-end closing entries are not included, so either period may span fiscal years.
Note: The parameters shared by all Finance reports are described in Finance - Reports General.
| Field |
Description |
| Account |
The account name. |
| Number |
The account number. |
| Type |
The account type. |
| Category |
The account category. |
| Classification |
The Period 1 amount broken out by classification, one column for each classification. |
| Period 1 Amount |
The account total for the first date range. The heading shows the Period 1 dates. |
| Period 2 Amount |
The account total for the second date range. The heading shows the Period 2 dates. |
| Variance |
This is calculated as Period 1 Amount - Period 2 Amount, for each account and each subtotal. Note: Variance is not visible by default. Check Visible for Variance on the Fields tab to add it to the report. |
Note: Period 1 Amount, Period 2 Amount, and Variance all follow the Show Debits Negative setting of the chart layout, so Variance always matches the two amounts as they appear on the report.
Note: A positive Variance means the Period 1 Amount is higher than the Period 2 Amount.
