Health Visit is a CMS widget that records a health office visit for the selected student, with a reason and a comment, from a portal page. Schools place it in the teacher portal so a teacher can send a student to the health office, and the visit is waiting on the school nurse's Health Visits list before the student arrives.
Setting up the widget requires an account with permission to edit CMS pages. Reviewing the visits in Campus requires the Health Full or Health Read role.
Sending a student to the health office from the teacher portal
- Open the teacher portal page that shows a student's profile, the page a teacher reaches by choosing a student from a class or advisee list.
- Click Add Widget, then Student Profile, then Health Visits. In its Properties, set Title to Health Visits, set Navigate Url to the page that will hold the Health Visit widget, and set Limit to Current Teacher Entered.
- Create that page in the teacher portal, then click Add Widget, then Students, then Health Visit.
- In the Health Visit widget Properties, set Redirect After Save to the student profile page, so the teacher returns to the student after saving.
- Save both widgets.
The teacher then opens the student, clicks the Health Visits heading on the profile, chooses a Reason, adds a Comment such as the symptoms they noticed, and clicks Save.
What the health office sees
The visit appears in Campus under Health > Health Visits, with Time In set to the moment the teacher saved it and the reason in the Student Reason column. On the visit, Reason holds the teacher's choice, Student's Account holds the comment, and Entered By Student shows the teacher's user name and the time it was entered. The nurse completes the visit from there, including Time Out when the student leaves.
When the school has a Health Visit Check Out notification trigger set up, recording Time Out also emails the teacher of the class the student is returning to.
Important fields
Heading Text: A heading shown above the form, for example "Send to the Health Office." Blank by default.
Is Reason Hidden: Select it to hide the Reason list. It is cleared by default. The list is the Student Health Reasons list the health office keeps on the health visit in Campus, and it opens on the first reason in that list.
Is Comment Hidden: Select it to hide the Comment box. It is cleared by default.
Max Comment Length: The most characters the Comment box accepts. Leave it at 0 for no limit.
Show Most Recent Signup: When selected, the form shows the most recent visit entered for the student today from the portal or the health office kiosk, with its date, reason and comment. It is selected by default.
Redirect After Save: The page to open after Save, usually the student profile page the teacher came from.
Logout On Save: Select it to sign the user out after Save. Use it only on a page where students sign themselves in on a shared device, and leave it cleared in the teacher portal.
Health Visits panel on the student profile
The Health Visits widget lists the selected student's visits on a profile page, and its heading, the Title, links to the page set in Navigate Url. Limit decides which visits appear: Any shows every visit for the student, Current Teacher Entered shows the visits the signed-in teacher entered, and Current Student Entered shows the visits the student entered from the portal. Num Records To Show sets how many rows appear, and Columns chooses the columns.
Note: The widget records the visit for the student selected on the page, so place it on a page the teacher reaches from a student's profile. On a page with no student selected, Save records nothing.
Note: Students can also check in at a kiosk in the health office. A visit a teacher starts here and a check-in the student makes at the kiosk are recorded as two separate visits. See Configuring Health Office Check-In.
