FAQ: Why does a parent see We could not start this enrollment when starting an accepted applicant's Application Form?

Posted September 26, 2026

The message We could not start this enrollment. The school has been notified. means that Start could not enroll the accepted applicant as a student, so the agreement could not be opened. The applicant's row keeps its Start button, and the reason is recorded in the website error log for the school.

The reasons are the following.

- The applicant has no division with Applicant status for the form's Academic Year, in a school of the form's Accepted applicants: pre-enroll profile, whose admissions year is the form's Academic Year or the following year. Roll the school's admissions year forward, or correct the applicant's status in that division.
- The applicant has no grade applied for. Set the grade on the inquiry.
- The applicant's preferred student id points to a student that is not this applicant's. Correct it on the inquiry.
- The applicant was enrolled, but no student invitation type of the form matches the new Pre-Enrolled student. Correct the filters of the student invitation type; review Application Form Invitation Type.

Once the record is corrected, the parent clicks Start again. A student created by an earlier attempt is reused, so a second click never creates a second student.

Note: The message is the Inquiry Enroll Failed Text of the CMS Widget - Application Invitations widget, and the school's setting is described on Application Form Details.
