Application Form Widget Properties are the pricing and override settings that appear on the Application Form tab of a widget's properties window when the widget is placed on an Application Form page. They are not shown on widgets placed on other CMS Pages. The properties window is opened from the CMS page editor; review Adding CMS Widget and CMS Widget - Standard Properties for the General tab.
The following widgets can be priced. Each carries the settings below on its Application Form tab.
- The check box widget (Edit Checkbox) charges its product when the family checks it.
- The radio button option widget (Edit Radio Option) charges its product when the family selects it.
- The bound field widget (Content Bound Field) always charges its product; it is used for a fixed charge such as tuition.
Product is the Finance product charged when the widget is selected. The list shows the products of the form's ledger. The product's price, deposit, proration, and financial aid settings drive the amounts shown on the CMS Widget - Submit Summary and the CMS Widget - Deposit (Application Form) widgets.
Invoice Group is the invoice group the charge is posted to when the form is finalized. The list shows the invoice groups of the form's ledger.
Invoice Template is the invoice template, and therefore the payment term, used for the invoice that carries this charge. The template also drives the installments listed by the CMS Widget - Payment Schedule widget. The list shows the invoice templates of the form's ledger. Note: A widget with a Product also needs an Invoice Group and an Invoice Template. When the form's ledger has invoice groups and invoice templates, Save reports the missing values on the Application Form tab and does not save.
Note: A saved Product, Invoice Group, or Invoice Template that the list of the form's ledger does not offer stays selected, labeled with the reason: "[not on this form's ledger]" for an entry from another ledger, "[inactive]" for an inactive product, or "Deleted" followed by the id for a record that no longer exists. The saved value is kept until another one is picked.
Is Selected pre-selects the check box or radio option for the family. It is available on the check box and radio option widgets only. A pre-selected, read-only widget is the way to place a mandatory charge that the family can see but not remove.
Require Vault is available on the radio option widget only. It names the payment method the family must enter and store at signing when this option is selected: None, Credit Card, Echeck, or Either. The default is None. When any option on the form is set to a value other than None, the selected option's value replaces the Save Profile setting of the CMS Widget - Sign and Submit widget, and a payment entered with the other kind of method is refused before any amount is charged. Use it on payment plan options: a credit card or e-check plan stores the method for later installments, while a wire transfer or financial aid plan is left at None and stores nothing.
Override Scope lists the filter components of the school's filter combinations. The components checked here are the ones that can be used to vary this widget's settings per applicant. When no component is checked, the widget's values apply to every applicant and no overrides can be authored. Review Application Form Overrides.
Amount Basis appears on the CMS Widget - Household Category Responsibility and CMS Widget - Financial Aid Awards widgets and selects which total the widget displays: My Responsibility is the amount owed by the household of the parent who is viewing the form, Prorated Amount is the student's total after proration, and Full Amount is the student's total before proration.
Below the properties, the Application Form Properties panel of the tab shows the same values, and, once an Override Scope has been saved, the Add Override builder and the Overrides matrix for this widget. These are the same editors that Application Form Overrides shows for every widget of a page.
Note: The values entered here are the base values of the widget. When a family starts the form, the values that apply to that applicant are copied into the applicant's snapshot and frozen. Changing a product or price afterward does not change a form that has already been started; use Application Form Student Overrides or the Reset Snapshot button on Application Form Invitation for that.
